This report presents research that provides an understanding of the current impact of the low levels of investment in training in the UK and, in addition, tries to quantify how many people’s potential contribution to society is being squandered as a result of not having access to regular skills development. And the inevitable impact of that on social mobility.
The report by Yasmin White, Tom Bradley, Beccy Packer & Emily Jones demonstrates a stark disconnect between increasing employer demand for green skills and young people’s lack of knowledge. A lack of awareness of green jobs and what qualifications support progression to these roles is thwarting young people’s aspirations for careers that can combat climate change and drive clean growth.

As part of the School of Education’s GCRF funded international project, Can Dual Apprenticeships Create Better and More Equitable Social and Economic Outcomes For Young People? A Comparative Study of India And Mexico (PI: Professor Oscar Valiente, University of Glasgow, School of Education; Co-I: Dr Srabani Maitra, University of Glasgow, School of Education; Professor Mhairi Mackenzie, University of Glasgow, School of Social and Political Sciences), two high-impact hybrid skill synergy summits were organised in India on Dec 3rd and 17th, 2021 respectively.
We are saddened that the present AEQ editors, Ellen Boeren, Kevin Roessger,and Liz Roumell will be stepping down at the end of their term. We extend our deep thanks for the wonderful job they have done with the journal. We are now looking for the next set of editors.
If we want to help unlock the potential of workplaces as learning venues, we must broaden our perspective on learning by looking at workers’ personal goals, interests, attitudes and preferences, according to a company survey conducted by EU agencies Cedefop and Eurofound.
The AONTAS Lifelong Learning Event will take place online on the 24th of November between 9:30am-12:30pm. The workshop for the project “Remote Healthcare System for Diabetes Management” is a digital hands-on remotely delivered interactive session, with the purpose of disseminating the work on Diabetes management conducted by Dr. Qammer H. Abbasi (Project Principal investigator), Reader at James Watt School of Engineering, University of Glasgow, and the team at the, James Watt School of Engineering, University of Glasgow (Muhammad Ali Imran, Hasan Abbas, Sajjad Hussain, Ahmed Zoha), the Institute of Cardiovascular & Medical Sciences (Naveed Sattar, Professor of Metabolic Medicine) and Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) (Naveed ul Hassan (LUMS PI), Ali Hussain, Muhammad Farooq and Muhammad Omar).
We are proud to announce that the fourth volume of Advances in Global Education and Research, an open-access textbook has been published. The chapters in this book are peer-reviewed as part of the 4th Global Conference on Education and Research (GLOCER).
